City of London Sinfonia presents Modern Mystics

Three informal orchestral concerts in three unique and beautiful London venues.

9 November 2017 | Book tickets

City of London Sinfonia presents Modern Mystics, a ‘Sonic Trilogy’ of concerts exploring belief, faith and, above all, our common human experience. Each concert transforms a unique London venue into a theatre for sound, and provides a truly immersive experience of live contemporary classical music.

The thought-provoking series begins with The Fruit of Silence in the ancient setting of Southwark Cathedral, enhanced by projections and visuals, before the Orchestra heads east to Village Underground with a programme combining live orchestra, electronics and visuals in The Book of Hours. In the final instalment at St John’s Smith Square (Westminster), the audience will be able to interact with musicians in living programme notes; an exploration of John Tavener’s The Protecting Veil, his musical vision of the Mother of God, as part of Southbank Centre’s Belief and Beyond Belief festival.

City of London Sinfonia invites you to get closer than is ever possible at a traditional concert venue. You can settle on a cushion, in touching distance of their wonderful musicians; chat to the Orchestra and team after the performance, and enjoy quality contemporary classical music in a seriously informal atmosphere.

The Modern Mystics concerts by City of London Sinfonia:
9 November (7.30pm), 22 November (7.30pm), 2 December (7.30pm)
Southwark Cathedral, Village Underground, St John’s Smith Square
