The impressive programme of five German festival favourites (including two UK premieres) is curated by The Daily Telegraph’s film critic Tim Robey and will bring you face to face with some of the hottest talent from Germany, both in front of and behind the camera.

Launched in 2016, the Face To Face With German Films campaign shines a spotlight on the most influential individuals currently working in the German film industry and represents just some of the many dynamic ‘faces’ of German filmmaking today. The festival opens with the UK Premiere of 3 Days in Quiberon/ 3 Tage in Quiberon by Emily Atef, who will be in attendance to introduce her multi award-winning film live on stage. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the director, moderated by The Telegraph’s Film Critic Tim Robey.

After working with some of the biggest names in Hollywood on such films as Flightplan, The Time Trevalaer's Wife, R.E.D., R.I.P.D., Divergent - Insurgent and Divergent - Allegiant, director Robert Schwentke returned to his native language for The Captain and casts a spotlight on some of the hottest German-speaking actors today like Alexander Fehling. Award-winning lead actress Julia Jentsch (Sophie Scholl – The Final Days, The Edukators) will be in attendance for a Q&A after the screening of her new film 24 Weeks/ 24 Wochen by Anne Zohra Berrached.

We Are Young, We Are Strong/ Wir Sind Jung. Wir Sind Stark by award-winning Afghan-German director Burhan Qurbani, reconstructs the xenophobic violence that ripped through Rostock in 1992, when a 3,000-strong mob besieged and torched a high-rise full of Vietnamese immigrants, while award-winning actior Tom Schilling stars as a feckless college dropout in the slacker’s odyssey Oh Boy! by Jan Ole Gerster.

Enjoy a weekend of exciting cinematic surprises – made in Germany at Regent Street Cinema from 21 to the 23 of September.
