Late Night: Sublime Symmetry

Enjoy a night of arts, crafts, music and cocktails inspired by William De Morgan

18 May 2018 | Visit website

Inspired by the launch of new exhibition, Sublime Symmetry, attendees will have the chance to discover over 80 works by the Victorian Ceramicist William De Morgan, as well as indulge in all manner of inspired activities. From De Morgan-themed face painting, expressionist acrylic painting and drawing workshops with inspiring visual artist Rachel Gadsden and the chance to handle live reptiles, amphibians and animals that feature in De Morgan’s designs with a zoo keeper, to expert mixologist-crafted cocktails, clay-creature sculpting in De Morgan’s style, and exhibition tours with the curator.

There will be storytelling taking you on a magical adventure exploring the fantastical beasts and the fairy-tales of De Morgan's sister, Mary, in a session sure to conjure images of William De Morgan’s vivid ceramics or you can relax in a beanbag and take a moment to calm the mind with some mindful colouring inspired by De Morgan’s intricate patterns.
The evening will be rounded off with a special talk about De Morgan’s eminent mathematician father, Augustus De Morgan, by the Open University’s Dr June Barrow-Green.

Late Night: Sublime Symmetry is on 18 May 7 - 10 pm. Tickets are £15.
