Leonid Desyatnikov: Sketches to Sunset

Celebrated Russian composer Leonid Desyatnikov collaborates with an ensemble of award-winning musicians to present his first UK chamber music showcase at Milton Court Concert Hall on Saturday 19 May 2018.

19 May 2018

This programme features Desyatnikov’s chamber pieces — starting from his landmark Sketches to Sunset, a mix of tango and klezmer music written in the early 1990s, up to Songs of Bukovina, a new piece loosely based on Ukrainian folk songs that premiered in 2017. The programme will be performed by an ensemble of brilliant musicians led by the champion of Desyatnikov’s music pianist Alexey Goribol.

Inspired by the Russian classical tradition, Desyatnikov’s style is delicate, subtle and infused with wit. His precise rhythmic structures have inspired choreographers, and Alexey Ratmansky has staged five ballets on his scores.

Leonid Desyatnikov: Sketches to Sunset takes place at Milton Court Concert Hall on Saturday 19 May 2018, 19:30. More information can be found here
