Modern Mystics: The Fruit of Silence

A relaxing and informal concert of tranquil chamber music in the stunning surrounds of Southwark Cathedral.

9 November 2017 | Book tickets

City of London Sinfonia presents The Fruit of Silence, the first concert in its immersive Modern Mystics series; a sonic trilogy exploring how music and sound can link us to spiritual experiences.

This informal concert will let you wander the enchanting Nave of Southwark Cathedral or relax on cushions as the Orchestra performs music of exceptional purity, clarity and tranquillity – further enhanced by projections and visuals by Video Artist Jack James.

Transforming the Cathedral into a theatre for sound, City of London Sinfonia will perform tranquil chamber music by composers that changed the landscape of contemporary classical music. Central to the thought-provoking programme is a selection of works by Estonian composer Arvo Pärt, featuring Orchestra Leader Alexandra Wood in his wondrous double concerto, Tabula Rasa, and a roaming choir (Epiphoni Consort) in his Seven Magnificat Antiphons.

Modern Mystics: The Fruit of Silence will take place on Thursday 9 November, 7.30pm, at Southwark Cathedral.
