Pegasus Opera Company Present 2 New Operas

A double bill of new operas featuring women in leading roles!

28 February 2018 – 4 March 2018

Pegasus Opera Company - the UK's leading multi-racial touring Opera Company - presents an opera double bill of Ruth and The Dark Lady of the Sonnets. Composed and conducted by Philip Hagemann and directed by Eduardo Barreto, these one act operas both showcase women in leading roles and will have their UK premieres this February.

Ruth is a tale of acceptance, sacrifice and loyalty based on the biblical story and featuring celebrated soprano Alison Buchanan alongside Byron Jackson and Kamilla Dunstan. The Dark Lady of the Sonnets is a lighthearted imagining of the first meeting between William Shakespeare and Queen Elizabeth. Sarah Champion will play Queen Elizabeth, with Annabelle Williams as The Dark Lady and Oliver Brignal as Shakespeare.

Ruth and The Dark Lady of the Sonnets will be performed as a double bill on 28 February, 1 March, 2 March and 4 March at the Actors Church Covent Garden. Tickets start at £15.
