The 7 Wonders of the Weald in Kent!

This summer, London's neighbouring county of Kent is blooming with fantastic family-friendly activities at some of Kent's best loved attractions.

30 June 2018 – 31 August 2018 | Visit website

Visit all seven exciting attractions for just £30, with The Seven Wonders of the Weald pass!

1 - Prepare yourself for some fiery entertainment at the Great Kent Chilli Festival. A weekend jam-packed with chilli-based foods, as well as cooking demonstrations and talks, this is chilli heaven! You can also enjoy live music, falconry, and of course… chilli-eating competitions.

The Great Kent Chilli Festival runs on 30 June to 1 July at Hole Park in Rolvenden.

2 - Visit the delightful Chiddingstone Castle for the annual Summer Vintage Fair in the Castle’s delightful grounds. Shop from a vast array of vintage stalls, enjoy singing from Miss Vintage and dancing with the Medway Lindy Hoppers throughout the day. You can also treat yourself to delicious food sourced from local food providers.

The Chiddingstone Castle Summer Vintage Fair runs from 11am on 1 July. Entry costs £6 for adults and £2 for children.

3 - Get an extra boost of culture in Knole in Sevenoaks this summer! Call the shots at the free family-friendly Panasonic Roadshow, where you can make the most of Knole’s intricate architecture and wild deer as you learn how to take the perfect picture, as guided by experts.

The Panasonic Roadshow runs on 7 and 8 July. The Archaeology tour runs on 14 July.

4 - Enjoy a walk at Scotney Castle and follow in the footsteps of the children of the Hussey family of the 19th Century and explore the castle’s gorgeous wildlife. If theatre is your thing, relish the gorgeous grounds with an open-air production of the Railway Children.

The Summer Guided Walks run daily from 7 to 22 July, and you can catch the Railway Children on 6 July at 7pm.

5 - Go full steam ahead with the kids with a ride in Thomas the Tank Engine at the Kent & East Sussex Railway! With unlimited round trips to Rolvenden Station, character meet and greets, face painting and more, it’s a recipe for unforgettable family fun.

A Day Out With Thomas runs on 21 to 23 July at Kent & East Sussex Railway.

6 - All aboard the Biddenden Cider Express! Indulge in a delicious meal and a selection of ciders as you travel in the train’s 50s era corridor carriages to Bodiam, where you will be welcomed by a live band.

The Biddenden Cider Express will leave the Kent & East Sussex Railway on 29 June and 31 August at 7pm. Tickets cost £29.

7 - Join Biddenden Vineyards for an evening of Shakespeare, as the Changeling Theatre perform Measure for Measure. Bring your picnic blankets along to enjoy the play with the evening sun and vines in the backdrop and refresh yourself with cold beverages and ice-cream in the interval.

Measure for Measure shows on 5 August at 5pm at Biddenden Vineyards in Ashford.

Why not escape from London and make a long weekend out of it? Kent & East Sussex offer a range of charming lodges, including Fish Lodge Bothy - a fantastic family property with bags of character and only a mile from Tonbridge!
