Stories from the City: The Bank of England in Literature

An exhibition exploring the Bank of England's literary connections

| Visit website

The Bank of England Museum is celebrating the launch of the new Jane Austen £10 note with an exhibition charting the Bank's long history of literary connections. The exhibition looks at the new £10 note and its high-security features, as well as the life of Jane Austen and the theme of money that runs throughout her work.

Bank of England notes have a history of featuring literary figureheads, with both Shakespeare and Dickens previous alumni, and Stories from the City looks at Dickens' work alongside that of other writers such as Kenneth Grahame: celebrated author of The Wind in The Willows and a senior figure at the Bank.

Stories from the City: The Bank of England in Literature is at The Bank of England Museum from July 19. Entry is free!
