Tieta, The Trial

A dark comic Brazilian play by StoneCrabs Theatre

26 June 2018 – 1 August 2018 | Visit website

A dark, comic play, adapted from the Brazilian novel ‘Tieta do Agreste’ by Nobel Prize nominee Jorge Amado. Featuring live music, storytelling and dance, Tieta takes the audience on an emotional rollercoaster where fact and fiction become intertwined.

A millionaire returns to her hometown after an absence of many years. Merely on the promise of her millions, she quickly turns what has been a depressed area into a boomtown. But there is a condition attached to her charity: her quest for justice. Is Tieta’s call for justice, also an attempt at revenge? ‘Tieta, The Trial’ highlights issues that are still as current and problematic today, ranging from corruption and greed to social exclusion and equality.

Tieta, The Trial is playing at Marylebone Theatre 26 June, Soho Theatre 13 July, ETC Theatre 28 July and Camden People’s Theatre as part of Camden Fringe Festival 31 July & 1 August. More information, dates and tickets here.
