VAULT Festival | Laurie Black: Space Cadette

The world's a bit shit, isn't it? Let's run away to the moon. That's where Laurie Black and her spaceship synthesiser are shooting for so get in, loser!

31 January 2019 – 1 February 2019 | Visit website | Book tickets

Expect original musical comedy and quirky covers from this synth-playing classically trained pianist and singer who aims to be the first woman on the moon (yes, really).

Laurie has MC’d in the legendary cabaret sensation La Clique; played keys for Anya Anastasia, Briefs production Sweatshop and for punk legends The Men That Will Not Be Blamed For Nothing. She was crowned Best Emerging Artist at Adelaide Fringe and a “Queen of Cabaret” by Ed Fest Mag in 2018.

SPACE CADETTE is a brand new gravity-defying musical comedy cabaret by Black merging old school drunken piano Weimar cabaret with contemporary synths, beats and space vibes. How will we get to the moon? Why hasn’t a woman set foot (or stiletto heel) on the moon? Is the grass greener on the moon? She might not have all the answers, but Laurie's skin is greener at least…!

This is your official invitation to board the spaceship and get away from it all. Strictly no rubbish people. Luggage allowance 7kg. Excess baggage charge of £1,000,000. Keep your arms and legs inside the spaceship at all times. Get ready to blast off!
