The Berry Fizztive at Rail House Café

8 Christmas Cocktails to Knock Your Socks Off

7 December 2018 Billie Manning

It’s coming up to Christmas, and sure, you could stay in, drinking Bucks Fizz and slightly hating yourself, but you could also go out and enjoy one of London’s most delicious Christmas cocktails. Inspired by mince pies, figgy pudding and gingerbread, we’ve rounded up the best of the shaken and stirred this season for your drinking pleasure - just make sure you don’t drive the sleigh home afterwards.

1. Bianco Natale! at Quaglino's
The mixology maestros at Quaglino's have created a creamy and comforting Christmas special for the festive season called Bianco Natale! (Exclamation point included.) Including Cointreau, Cacao white, egg white and chocolate bitters, this Italian charmer will have you wishing everyone around you a Merry Christmas in no time.

Quaglino's, 16 Bury St, St. James's, London SW1Y 6AJ

2. Berry Fizztive at Rail House Café
This rail-themed bistro in Victoria is keeping the gin hype going with a highly-Instagrammable wintry concoction. The Berry Fizztive mixes sloe gin with cranberry liqueur and Prosecco, and wins the Christmas garnish competition with an actual candy cane and ‘North Pole sugar dust’ popped on top.

Rail House Café, 8 Sir Simon Milton Square, Victoria, London SW1E 5DJ

3. Winter Spritz at OSLO
In a bid to combat the cold OSLO Hackney bring you the Winter Spritz, consisting of Tanqueray Gin, Italicus & Prosecco, combining the comforts of gingerbread syrup with the fresh zing of grapefruit.

OSLO, 1A Amhurst Rd, London E8 1LL

4. Winter Saison at Alice House
After a bracing winter's walk in Queen's Park, head to The Alice House for a warming toddy to keep the winter chill at bay. For the festive season, The Alice House will be mulling their own Lemon Saison - brewed at Hop Stuff by the bar's beer geeks - with winter spices. Just what the doctor ordered.

Alice House, 53-55 Salusbury Rd, London NW6 6NJ

5. Twist of Fate at Heads + Tails
Newly opened in West Hampstead, Heads + Tails is the bar equivalent of a Gemini – two-faced but brilliant at it. On the menu downstairs in Tails you’ll find warming wintery tipple Twist of Fate, which combines Wild Turkey Bourbon with festive ginger and cinnamon syrup. Check out our review of Heads + Tails bar here!

Heads + Tails, 175 West End Ln, London NW6 2LH

6. The Skylight Cobbler at Skylight
Skylight's cosy Christmas cocktail, the Skylight Cobbler, blends Bombay Sapphire, lemon juice and peach syrup and topped off with Plum Bitters, and is the perfect tipple of choice to warm you up before skating the night away or getting toasty in one of Skylight's multiple igloos. Read more about Skylight's rooftop ice rink here!

Skylight, Tobacco Dock, Pennington St entrance, St Katharine's & Wapping, London E1W 2SF

7. Mint Espresso Martini at Bussey Rooftop Bar
Bussey Rooftop Bar is opening its doors during winter for the first time this year, meaning you can relax under the twinkling fairy lights of new pergolas with their Mint Espresso Martini. Espresso martinis have been all the rage in 2018 and with this minty version is sure to tickle the taste buds, so pay homage to the year by grabbing one for you and a friend during the bar’s 2-4-1 happy hour, 5pm-7pm on weeknights – or, you know, just get two for yourself. ‘Tis the season to treat yourself!

Bussey Rooftop Bar, Roof B Bussey Building, 133 Rye Ln, London SE15 4ST

8. Fig Poppa at Dirty Bones
The absolutely exquisitely named Fig Poppa helps Dirty Bones live up to its name. It combines Bulleit bourbon, Pedro Ximinez sherry (much better than your nan’s), cinnamon, figs, lime and Fee Brother’s plum bitters, and is served on the rocks with the very festive garnishes of a rosemary sprig and cinnamon stick.

Dirty Bones, multiple locations in Carnaby, Kensington, Shoreditch and Soho
