Exhibition of the Week
V&A Friday Late: All to Play For

This month’s Friday Late at the V&A riffs of the museum’s current exhibition, Videogames: Design/Display/Disrupt and will explore the future of gaming as well as how makers and players are challenging the notion of what play can be in the 21st century. If you head down – it’s free, so no excuse not to, really – you can expect to solve riddles to find your way out of an escape room, work with other attendees to decode a puzzle of dancers amongst other treats. You’ll also get the chance to visit the Videogames exhibition for just £5, should it tickle your fancy. You’ll even be able to play newly commissioned videogames that are being showcased for the first time: Oceanarium by Paloma Dawkins, In the Pause between the Ringing by Studio Oleomingus and 29 Steps by Kitty Calis and Jan Willem Nijman, all of which extend the exhibition’s theme of ‘disruption’ and push the boundaries of videogame design. Also available to enjoy will be Robin Baumgarten's newest experimental, playable platform Wobble Garden, made of bright LED rings, door stopper springs and a variety of interactive modes, and l i m i t, a collaborative and interactive sound art performance where visitors are invited to direct the soundscape. You’ll come home goggle-eyed, but having had a ton of virtual fun.
