The Best Food in London this February

31 January 2018 Livvi Alderson-Tuck

If your January was full of supergreens, lime sodas and extra hours in the gym, your February should be full of indulgence, good food and exploring all the new restaurants 2018 has brought to the Big Smoke. London Calling sheds a light on the new eateries which have caught our eye.

Bob Bob Cite
Soho stalwart, Bob Bob Ricard, is opening its first sister restaurant in the Leadenhall building. Bob Bob Cite will keep many of the features which make the Soho branch so well loved: plush boothed seating, high quality ingredients and the all important ‘Push for Champagne’ button. This new restaurant will split into two sections, Standard and Executive, for those extra special occasions. There will also be a 9 seater sushi restaurant within the restaurant itself, how meta. Expect stunning French dishes with a modern twist; the perfect decadent option for Valentine’s Day.

Shuang Shuang
Chinese New Year falls on Friday 16th February, and what better way to celebrate this year then heading to Shuang Shuang on Shaftesbury Avenue to try an immersive way of dining which has been a tradition in China for thousands of years. At Shuang Shuang, Chinese hot pot cuisine is the focus; select your broth base, add the dipping sauce of your choice then pick any of the delicious ingredients wafting past on the conveyor belt to personalise your dish. The broth bases range from classic clear chicken to fragrant tom yum and you can pimp your own broth with sauces such as oyster, ginger and garlic and hot sriracha, then further additions such as prawn balls, crispy pork wontons, sizzling steak and marinated mutton.

Shuang Shuang is on 64 Shaftesbury Ave, W1D 6LU

Sorella
From the team behind The Dairy, Sorella has opened in Clapham and plans to bring a slice of Italian sunshine to dreary London February. The menu will be inspired by the Amalfi Coast, where Head Chef Robin Gill spent much of his time honing his craft. Expect big bold flavours from dishes such as venison pappardelle and cep gnocchi with girolles, and fresh, light flavours from their seafood linguine. For something really unusual, give their fennel gelato a try. And it isn’t only the food which will bring the best Italian flavours to Clapham, their cocktail menu offers seasonal bellinis and cherry smoked negronis.

Greyhound Cafe
All the way from Bangkok, serving up incredible authentic Thai food, Greyound Cafe is opening its first venture outside of Asia and lucky for us, it will be situated in Fitzrovia. The cafe will have a hip, casual ambience, serving up traditional Thai dishes with a contemporary edge. Try their pad thai which comes with big, juicy scallops or the duck soup noodles; a five spiced broth served with a confit duck leg. The Phuket burger is a soft shell crab pattie with avocado and wasabi dressing or if you are feeling adventurous, try the mysterious ‘Complicated Noodle’- we are just as in the dark as you are! If you just fancy a snack, their range of small plates is great for a light meal; choose from crispy chicken wings to spicy fish balls.

Beer + Burger
Opening on Kingsland Road in Dalston, this Beer + Burger will be their second restaurant in London, joining the original site in Willesden Green. And yes, you guessed it, it serves up beer and burgers. There is a huge beer selection, a monthly rotation of 20 taps and over 300 bottles and cans from around the world, so you can really expand your taste buds. And while the beer list may be extensive, the burger menu is short and simple, offering a classic burger, a cheeseburger, a chicken burger and a veggie option too. Beer + Burger hold a variety of beer tasting evenings and the Beer + Bottle Club where you can learn about different beers from experts. If it sounds like something that is right up your street, grab a friend and take them along to their Best Friend Tuesday offer, where if you bring your best bud, their burger is on the house.
