Theatre Top Picks of the Week

25 March 2019 Billie Manning

Spotlight On: Little Miss Sunshine at Arcola Theatre
What do I need to know? The beloved film, charting one family's trip across the USA in a VW towards daughter Olive's pageant dreams gets a makeover into a "road musical"
Any star spotting? The cast includes two-time Olivier nominee Paul Keating and Olivier nominee Laura Pitt-Pulford
What's the big deal? This is the European premiere of the show, which takes the Academy Award-winning film and turns it into an off-beat musical comedy for the stage. The show is positively littered with awards winners - excluding from the actors, the show was created by the Tony Award-winning team of James Lapine (who collaborated with Stephen Sondheim on Into the Woods and Sunday in the Park with George) and William Finn, and the production is directed by Arcola’s Artistic Director Mehmet Ergen.
