This Week 21 – 27 November

21 November 2016 Belphoebe New

As always, this week London has an incredibly diverse range of events to keep you entertained. We’ve rounded up the best of what London has to offer over the next seven days, whether you want to experience virtual reality at the V&A, source some vintage wares or watch some thought-provoking political comedy in the West End. Make sure to finish your November in style!

Hogwarts in the Snow

With the release of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, Harry Potter fever is upon us again, and the Harry Potter studios in North London are gearing up for a magical Christmas season. Hogwarts In The Snow will see the most iconic sets from the film decorated for Christmas, with majestic Christmas trees lining the Great Hall and the intricately detailed original Hogwarts scale model, used for exterior shots in the film, covered in a blanket of (fake) snow. See the Hogwarts Christmas banquet laid out in the Great Hall, and discover how they created snow that never melts and fires without real flames for the film’s Christmas scenes.

Hogwarts in the Snow runs from 19 November – Sunday 29 January at The Warner Brothers Studio Tours. Tickets are £35 with concessions available. Find out more here.

This House

It's 1974 and Westminster is warring against itself. Set inside The House of Commons, this production explores the trials and tribulations of the chief whips as they try and implement party order. The result is chaotic, with fist fights, nasty tricks and games played, all in an environment of political unrest that draws unsettling parallels to today’s political environment. Phil Daniels reprises his role as chief whip Bob Mellish in this West End production, which gives us a topical and amusing insight into the world of British politics. Read our interview with Phil Daniels here.

This House runs from 19 November – 25 February 2017 at The Garrick Theatre. Tickets are between £20 and £75. Find out more here.

Friday Late: Parallel Worlds

This week, the V&A’s Friday Late brings together leading designers, artists, musicians and experts whose work explores how games and play can reflect and change our reality. Across the V&A there will be virtual reality experiences for visitors from PlayStation, award-winning studio The Mill, and ‘Oscillate’, a VR swing ride by Brendan Walker. There will be games in The Cardboard Arcade as well as pinball machines and dancing courtesy of live music from the leading chip-musician Chipzel.
