This Week 24th – 30th October

24 October 2016 Stephanie Brandhuber

This week it’s hard not to think about anything else but Halloween. Although the scariest night of the year falls next Monday, London is throwing some of the best and biggest parties to celebrate all things terrifying and ghoulish this week. So get out that tube of fake blood that’s gone slightly crusty since last year - smear it over your face - and that ripped white t-shirt you’ve DIY’d last minute and go show London that the day of the dead is worth living for. Oh, and avoid the clowns, always avoid the clowns…

Halloween at Boxpark Shoreditch
Boxpark Shoreditch is hosting a line-up of terrifyingly terrific events in the week leading up to Halloween, including an unforgettable Halloween party with FIX LDN which will be dedicated to the celebrity icons that have recently passed away. In addition to this, Boxpark is providing menacing makeovers with professional makeup artist Sophia Cox, and opening the doors to a pop-up shop filled with vintage clothing to inspire your costume creativity. On top of all that, there will also be pop-ups providing Halloween nail art, Halloween hair colouring, delicious “freakshakes”, Halloween doughnuts, creepy cocktails, burgers and pumpkin craft beer.

Halloween at Boxpark Shoreditch will be hosting events all week from 24th-31st October. For dates and times for all events, visit Boxpark online.

The End of the World Party at Electric Brixton
Bad news everyone, the world’s coming to end on October 28th. And no, surprisingly this isn’t Trump’s doing. A pesky virus has mutated and taken control over everything and everyone, turning all of humanity into zombies. These aren’t the useless ones that move really slowly either; these are the terrifying, fast 28 Days Later ones. Specialist zombie-virus scientists confirm that there is absolutely nothing we can do about the situation. So what’s the plan? Cry and complain whilst an angry zombie bites your face off? Hell no. The answer is simple: party like there’s no tomorrow - which there isn’t, remember? So rock your best fancy dress, forget about your troubles and party the night (and world) away with Electric Brixton’s End Of The World Party.

The End of the World Party will take place on 28th October at Electric Brixton, Town Hall Parade, London SW2 1RJ. Tickets are £20 and can be booked online.

Scary Movie at The Grand in Clapham
Halloween is coming to The Grand with a scream. The £1 Cinema Club is screening classic Halloween film Scary Movie on their HD cinema-size screen, alongside a Monster Mash dance-off, creepy cocktails and petrifying prizes for best fancy dress. After the film, moviegoers are invited to part the night away at The Grand’s Halloween Movie Ball. Doors creak open at 6pm on October 29th for the unmissable screening of Scary Movie, and The Grand’s Halloween Movie Ball kicks off at 9pm and runs until 3am. So grab your most ghoulish garb and get down to The Grand this Saturday. There will be tricks and treats aplenty.

The Grand’s Halloween event will take place on 29th October at 21-25 St. John’s Hill, London SW11 1TT. For more information and to book tickets, visit The Grand online.

Day of the Dead at Junkyard Golf
For a wacky Halloween experience, head over to the hugely popular Junkyard Golf Club for their ‘Day of the Dead’ party at the Truman Brewery in Brick Lane. This gruesomely great event is set to include a whole host of surprises including Tarot Card readings, circus performers, fire-eaters and world-class magician Marcus Lewis. Junkyard Golf Club will receive a Halloween makeover with spiders, clowns (watch out) and ghouls floating around the venue for an unforgettable crazy golf experience. DJs will keep golfers going into the night while they enjoy four unique courses on offer, Halloween themed cocktails and the renowned Bart’s Dog Kart which will be on hand for revellers needing refuelling.

Junkyard Golf’s Day of the Dead party will take place on 29th October at The Old Truman Brewery, 91 Brick Lane, London E1 6QL. To book tickets visit Junkyard Golf online.

Death Star Disco
It’s a period of uncertainty in London’s nightlife with venues closing down at lightning speed, yet tubes running 24 hours on weekends and Tim Westwood claiming he should become Night Czar. Old Street Records spies have managed to steal secret plans to the Death Star, an armoured disco ball with enough power to destroy all of London's best-loved drinking holes. Pursued by the Empire’s sinister leader, Dr. Death, the Records Alliance invites you to embark upon Old St Records’ starship, and join the fight to destroy the Death Star’s plans through the power of dance and restore freedom and fun to London's party scene. Joining in are The Zealots, who will be taking to the stage live to fight off the sinister Empire with their unique twist on soul and funk whilst DJ 7OEL will not rest until Dr Death has been destroyed by the power of his eclectic selection of tunes. Grab your best Star Wars or space themed outfit and get down to Old Street Records to fight for your right to party.

Death Star Disco will take place on 29th October from 7pm – 2am at Old Street Records, 350-354 Old Street, London EC1V 9NQ. Tickets are £5 in advance, £7 on the door, £10 if no effort in costume is made. Book tickets online.
