This Week - 8th - 14th August

8 August 2016

Remember when we all collectively complained about how hot and sunny it was a few weeks ago? If only we could turn back Time, right? Although the weather can’t quite decide if it wants to rain or shine, we’ve got you covered either way. Here are some of this week’s top picks to keep you entertained whether you need indoor fun or outdoor adventures.

Seven Dials Spotlight

This free one-day music, comedy, and arts festival returns to Seven Dials, one of London’s most unique shopping and dining destinations, on Saturday August 13th. From 12-7pm, visitors can enjoy traffic-free streets bursting with entertainment, including free live performances, exclusive activities, and promotions in more than 120 shops and restaurants. The open-air stage will showcase an impressive lineup of performances including hits from the legendary West End show Motown the Musical.

Great British Beer Festival

If you’ve had your fill of music festivals for the summer then head over to the Great British Beer Festival for a lineup with a difference. With more than 900 real ales, and countless varieties of ciders, perries, and international beers, there really is something for everyone at this five-day event. Many of Britain’s most recognisable breweries will be running their own bars, but there will also be ample opportunity to try some less well-known brands and discover some exclusive GBBF beers too. Food stalls will make sure your energy levels stay up in order to get through the massive selection of drinks at your disposal. To top it all off, rock, pop, and alternative bands will appear alongside auctions and traditional pub games, to keep you entertained. Cheers!

The Great British Beer Festival will run from August 9th-13th. Book online here.

CTRL+ALT+DELETE

This powerful play by Emma Packer explores the highly important issue of domestic abuse and its reflection on our society. Through her work, Packer explores topical subjects including immigration, the financial crisis, the 2011 riots, the war on terrorism, and the housing crisis. Injustices of the world are called into question and tackled head-on in this emotive production that was long-listed for the Amnesty International Freedom of Expression Award.

CTRL+ALT+DELETE is showing at Camden People's Theatre as part of the Camden Fringe from 8th - 16th August. Book online here.

Junkyard Golf

Junkyard Golf truly puts the crazy in crazy golf. The popular putting pop-up based in The Old Truman Brewery in Brick Lane has announced it will be extending its run until the end of the year. So no excuse now not to head over there and try your luck on the bizarre and bonkers courses made out of decked-out debris. Not only is a new movie-themed course being built, but the three existing courses are being revamped too. Better bring an extra pair of socks though, you might get a hole in one!

All bookings can be made online here.

Afternoon Tea Week

Whether you pride yourself on knowing your Lady Grey from your Lapsang Souchon, or you just enjoy a good cuppa, come and celebrate Afternoon Tea Week at one of the many venues across London hosting events in honour of this beloved tradition.  Fancy a picnic in the park? Pick up a special Picnic Afternoon Tea box packed full of sweet and savory delights for £8 at one of the designated London locations and enjoy your tea and treats al fresco.
