Top 5 Places to Watch the Euro Championships Final

Top 5 Places to Watch the Euro Championships Final

7 July 2016 Tom Faber

We don’t know yet who’s going to be in the grand finale of the competition but if previous games are anything to go by, it’s going to be a tense and exciting match. Whether you’ve got your life savings riding on the underdog or you just want to get into the ambience of the game with an energetic crowd, here are the best places to savour every detail and celebrate (or curse) every goal.

Watch with the atmosphere turned up to eleven

The craziest Euros Pop Up is this cheeky homage to Swedish legend Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Zlatans has taken over Infernos nightclub where they’ll swap dancing for chanting. They boast arena seating, sing-a-longs and even a live brass band to provide the perfect raucous atmosphere. If you’ve got energy to spare, there’s no other choice for the grand finale.

Zlatans is at Infernos, 146 Clapham High Street, SW4.

Watch on London’s biggest HD screen

The Grand, which has been serving choice beverages since 1900, also boasts the biggest sports screen in the capital (probably not since 1900). It’s hard to overstate the size of this thing. It’s 24ft wide. And don’t worry about being stuck behind annoying heads - they’ve got plenty of terraced seats so everyone can enjoy an unrivalled view. If you’re not convinced, they’ve also got drinks, hot dogs, popcorn and pies.

The Grand is at 21 Saint John’s Hill, SW11.

Bar & Co Terrace

Watch on a boat on the Thames

If you’re not going to France to see the Euros, enjoy the final as you can only in England – floating on our iconic river. Bar & Co is moored at Temple and runs as a bar, restaurant and club. They’ve got five screens downstairs including a projector, or in the unlikely event of sunshine you can enjoy it on the top deck with another big TV.

Bar & Co is at Temple Pier, WC2R.

Big Screen on the Green

Watch in a park

If you love the beautiful game but aren’t a big fan of pub atmospheres, try something a little more chic at Parson’s Green. The Big Screen on the Green recreates the atmosphere of front-row stadium seats with a massive screen, but then adds celebrities, champagne and strawberries and cream. Unorthodox, yes, but quite delightful.

Big Screen on the Green is at Parsons Green, SW6. Advance booking is necessary.

The Water Poet

Go with tradition

Ultimately, you might just want to enjoy the match in its natural habitat: a good old fashioned pub. Try The Water Poet in Shoreditch, a labyrinthine drinking hole with big screens inside and out, a selection of delicious beers (both craft and traditional) and great food. They’ve even got a lovely garden for post-match celebration (or commiseration). Get there early to grab a table.

The Water Poet is at 9 Folgate St, E1.
