Have you ever fancied a night away from your own bed? Perhaps, you are itching for a change of scenery. Or maybe you just need a night away because the idea of a hotel mattress somehow seems better than your own. Maybe you fancy a night away in a city you have always dreamed of visiting, or maybe there is an adventure waiting for you in your very own town. If you’ve ever wondered what goes on at the museum at night, if zoo animals actually sleep or what it’s like to stay aboard a Royal Navy ship, you can find out for yourself at one of our top 5 London locations for overnight stays. The best part? They’re all kid-friendly.

Astronights

 
Do you have a budding scientist in your midst? If so, you may need to send them away for a night at the Science Museum. Astronights is an out of this world experience where you will conduct your own experiments, learn how to screen print a T-shirt and work on your origami skills. They’ll also be super-cool science shows and prizes for the world’s next generation of scientists! This year’s theme is chemistry or the sun.
 
Astronights take place at the Science Museum, Exhibition Road, South Kensington, London SW7 2DD from 18.45 until 10am the following morning and are suitable for 7-11 year olds. Tickets are £60 per person and the next upcoming dates are Friday, 7 September, Saturday, 6 October and Saturday, 1 December.
 

Dino Snores Sleepover

 
They say the best way to overcome fear is to face it. If you dare to roam with raptors, dream with dinos or snooze next to a stegosaurus, then the Dino Snores Sleepover at the Natural History Museum is just the experience for you! This night will be action packed exploring torch-lit trails, scouting for dinos and making your very own t-shirt! Breakfast will be served the following morning. Unfortunately, the remaining dates for 2018 are sold out. But don’t worry! You can join the action-packed fun starting in early 2019. This might be a great christmas gift for the kids! And just in case you’re wondering, we checked – they do Dino Snores for adults as well.
 
Dino Snores Sleepover take place at the Natural History Museum, Exhibition Road, South Kensington, London SW7 2DD from 18.45 until 10am the following morning and are suitable for ages 7-11. Tickets are £120 for one adult and one child and the next upcoming dates are 1 February 2019, 23 February 2019 and 16 March 2019.
 

BedBUGS Sleepover

 
Calling all animal lovers! Or should we say, bug lovers? If you have ever wondered what goes on at the zoo during the night, you’ll want to sign up for the BedBUGS sleepover at the ZSL London Zoo. During your stay you will have a torchlit night tour, activities all night long and access to the Zoo for the day after your stay.
 
BedBUGS Sleepover takes place at ZSL London Zoo, Outer Circle, Regent's Park, London NW1 4RY from 18.30 and is suitable for ages 3 – 15. Tickets are  £75 per adult and child and the next upcoming dates are 21 September, 5 October, 26 October and 9 November.
 

Kip in a Ship

 
Stay aboard the HMS Belfast on the River Thames for up to three nights during the Kip in a Ship sleepover. Up to 52 children and six adults can come aboard this ship that was once a warship of the Royal Navy. During your stay on the HMS Belfast you will be immersed in the ship’s history by sleeping in real sailors’ bunks, hearing stories of the men who lived and worked on the ship during D-Day and taking an exclusive tour of the Captain’s Bridge (for an additional charge). Want to make a proper poarty of it? You can book up to three nights and will need a minimum of 20 children.
 
The HMS Belfast is at The Queen's Walk, London SE1 2JH. Sleepovers start at 18.45 until 10am the following morning. It is targeted at school aged children from 7-18. Tickets are £47.50 pounds per person, per night and you can book your party anytime.
 

Young Friend’s Sleepover

 
Spend a night exploring areas of the British Museum after dark at the Young Friend’s Sleepover! During your stay you can participate in storytelling, music and dance workshops, re-enactments and craft activities, plus a chance to see one of the current temporary exhibitions. The next sleepover is all about the Roman Empire.
 
The British Museum is on Great Russell St, Bloomsbury, London WC1B 3DG. Sleepovers start at 18.15 until 9.00 the following morning and are suitable for children 8-15 who must be accompanied by an adult. Tickets are £45 per person and the next upcoming date is Saturday 20 October
